How to redact pdf
- Open the PDF and mark every sensitive area.
- Review your marks on each page; preview rectangles are not yet redacted.
- Apply redaction and download the rebuilt image-only PDF.
When to use this tool
Remove personal details from a document before sharing. Redaction removes intersecting text, image pixels, and vector content; the final image-only PDF also discards metadata, hidden layers, forms, and embedded files.
Frequently asked questions
No. The engine applies content redaction, then rebuilds all pages from redacted pixels into a fresh PDF. Original page streams and embedded content are not copied.
The result is image-only at 144 dpi. Searchable text, links, forms, and vector quality are lost. Review the downloaded file to check that all sensitive areas were marked.
